How to Apply for Homeownership in Brampton Caledon:

 

Habitat for Humanity GTA is building 10 townhouses on Kennedy Road in Caledon in 2017/18. We are scheduled to be building 13 townhouses on McLaughlin Road in Brampton in 2018. We are currently accepting new applications for homeownership for both projects.

 

STEP 1:  REVIEW ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA CONTAINED ON THIS WEBSITE

 

STEP 2:  ATTEND AN INFORMATION SESSION

Families who are interested in applying for a Habitat GTA home in Brampton Caledon must first attend a Homeownership Information Session, where they will then receive an application.

Applicants only need to attend one session to receive an application.

Please arrive on time as space is limited. We are unable to accommodate children. 

STEP 3:  SUBMIT A COMPLETED APPLICATION

Applications for Homeownership will be distributed at the end of each Homeownership Information Session.  Once you’ve attended an Information Session and completed the application you may submit it along with all requested documentation to:

STEP 4:  APPLICATIONS REVIEWED

A committee of volunteers called the Family Selection Committee (FSC) will conduct a thorough review of each submitted application.  The selection process includes:

  • Review of all financial records to determine an applicant’s financial stability
  • Conduct a home interview to assess level of need
  • Request police record check for all adult members of household
  • FSC deliberates to decide if basic eligibility criteria are met
  • Recommend approval of applicant  to Family Services Steering Committee
  • Family Services Steering Committee deliberates to confirm approval of application
  • Partner Family notified of approval of application
